Brides

100 wedding dresses and an empty retail property created the space for this public conversation about the nature of marriage.

We invited members of the public to join us in our temporary boutique to try on a dress or two and tell us what marriage meant to them.

The results were profoundly moving, not least because the opening of the boutique coincided with the passing of the Marriage Equality Act by Parliament, enabling gay marriage in New Zealand.  We filmed people's interviews and posted the results online via social media.

Brides was created in 2013 in collaboration with Anya Tate-Manning And Urban Dream Brokerage.
